I am originally from Finland and have lived in five different countries throughout my life (Finland, Sweden, Germany, Russia and USA) and have an MBA in Finance as well as a CFA Certification and I also graduated from Berklee College of Music. I used to work for a large multinational organization in Washington DC for 15 years doing international finance deals around the globe and the perks were great but I was not happy. I was sitting in a cubicle making rich people richer while watching my own life go by and wondering whether this was all life had to offer. I got into massage by accident. I had always been the girl that even back in Finland was always massaging people’s shoulders so when I saw an introductory evening at a local massage therapy school I figured I had nothing to lose by checking it out and that is how I started my massage career. I spent a year and a half at the massage therapy school (Potomac Massage Training Institute) and after graduation started working with DC United professional soccer team in Washington DC doing post practice and game-day massages. At the same time I worked for a massage outcall company doing massages at all of the top hotels in Washington DC with some incredible clientele. And I felt alive for the first time in years.
My other passion has always been music and I have played piano since I was eight years old. After I got accepted at Berklee College of Music I quit my job in international finance and moved to Boston, MA. I graduated from Berklee in 2014 with songwriting major and music production&engineering minor and moved to Los Angeles to write and produce music. I also opened my massage therapy practice in Los Angeles and do outcall massages to my client’s homes. It is a perfect combination actually since both music and massage are highly creative and intuitive professions and neither can be done on a full time basis without a fast burnout. Combining the two I feel I have a great balance in my life and I can use my creativity 24/7 while helping people feel better. Active Release Techniques® has been an amazing modality for me and it is definitely the fastest working and effective technique that I have learned for releasing muscle adhesions and getting people out of pain in just a few sessions (sometimes just one). I became Full Body certified in 2017 and look forward to taking more advanced classes in the future. I received my certification in Nerve Entrapments in 2022.
